Environment

GDK Baimskaya is committed to a policy of environmental protection that defines a responsible approach to the reduction of emissions and waste, as well as the efficient use of energy and water resources.

Minimizing environmental impact is an absolute priority for the Company. The Company's priority also extends to increasing the environmental awareness of its employees, contractors, and suppliers.

GDK Baimskaya conducts a comprehensive environmental audit before all work commences.

The Company implements the most advanced technologies capable of ensuring environmental safety in copper mining and production.

The Baimsky GOK will be one of the most advanced and safe mining and processing plants in the industry. By implementing the Baimskaya ore zone development project, the Company is creating a product that is essential for the future of mankind.

Social Initiatives

GDK Baimskaya implements social initiatives in the Chukotka Autonomous Region aimed at improving the quality of life in the region in four key areas:

Healthcare

As part of the healthcare initiatives, coronavirus tests are procured and delivered to medical facilities in the region.

Support for the indigenous
people's traditional way of life

As part of supporting the traditional lifestyle of the local communities, reindeer meat, fruit, and vegetables grown in the region are purchased, communication facilities for reindeer herders are provided, and special equipment is supplied to indigenous minorities of the North.

Education

As part of the education initiatives, a timely and comprehensive assistance is provided to schoolchildren in ethnic villages for every new school year. Also, a New Year's campaign called «Presents for Chukotka's Children» is held annually.

Assistance in developing
local cultural traditions

Support in the development of local cultural traditions is provided by assisting traditional craftsmen, specifically by placing orders with them for sewing traditional garments and crafting musical instruments. These include, among other things, funding the renovation of the Einetkun national ensemble's equipment.

The support of GDK Baimskaya made possible another scientific expedition of the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences to the Pegtymel River, where the Pegtymel petroglyphs were discovered. These unique petroglyphs were made 2000 years ago and are the northernmost of their kind in Asia.

The Company supported the Murals Project in the Chukotka Autonomous Region. These artists have decorated the gable facades of residential buildings in three settlements. The mural arts reflect regional specifics, and some of them are based on Chukchi folk tales.

In partnership with regional authorities, non-profit organizations, and local communities, GDK Baimskaya is opening new opportunities to improve the quality of life in the Chukotka Autonomous Region and promote the development of the region's rich cultural traditions.

Health and safety at work

Protecting the health and safety of our employees is imperative to the company's operations. A “Health and Safety Policy” has been adopted, and it is mandatory to comply with its requirements not only for the company's employees, but also for the contractors' employees. All contractors of the company shall meet high standards in the field of occupational health and safety.

The main efforts are aimed at preventing accidents and mitigating the consequences of emergency situations. The Company continuously improves its approaches to occupational health and safety management.
